What can a metal wall do for you?


Wall cladding systems can provide the main aesthetic for a building, as well as achieving many technical performance criteria and accommodating fire performance, resistance to moisture, detailing around fenestration and openings, acoustics, environmental concerns and the host of other technical properties commonly required. Walls have different performance criteria, generally speaking, from roof systems.
 
However, wall cladding systems also offer a wider range of choice, especially considering cost. It is therefore important to establish two important aspects before starting to specify a wall cladding system: what are the aesthetic requirements, what the performance criteria are and what the budget is.


Horizontally laid profiles


This is an aesthetically pleasing option, able to provide an attractive finish within a very reasonable cost. The selection of a Half Round, Sinusoidal or Trapezoidal profile sheet laid horizontally helps create an interesting façade, and can appear less 'industrial' in its appearance than a vertically laid profile. Note that when using a Trapezoidal profile, the color is applied to the broad face of the profile, giving a flatter appearance, with the shadow effect of the narrow corrugation helping to conceal the side lap detail and make fixings less obvious. It is essential when specifying horizontally laid profiles that the correct combination o materials and colors are selected- horizontally laid profiles are tolerance sensitive, and it is essential that our recommendations
are followed to ensure a good quality finish is achieved. Mitre corners are available for horizontal profiles.




Vertically laid profiles


This is the most straightforward and economic solution to a metal wall cladding system offering excellent technical performance whilst being quick and easy to install. Enhancement to achieve Firewalls for boundary wall conditions is usually very easily achieved, and the systems generally have good acoustic performance and excellent environmental credentials. Generally, a trapezoidal profile is selected for vertical applications; however it is also possible to use sinusoidal or half-round profiles. The color being applied to the broad face of a trapezoidal profile gives a flatter appearance and helps conceal the side lap detail and fixings.


Firewall options


Hanyi built up systems use non-combustible* insulation throughout, therefore it is generally easy to achieve a 4 hour fire wall construction in accordance with BS476 Part 22. For a vertically laid wall, using a stone wool cladding roll insulation, a 4 hour fire wall is achieved without requiring any additional components to the system (please refer to Hanyi Firewall brochure for exact requirements). It isimportant to remember that some modification of the supporting steelwork may be required.

Polyurethane and Polystyrene foams differ in their chemical makeup. Chemical makeup aside, the three foams that you ask about are different in their cell structure. Both extruded polystyrene foam (XPS) and Polyurethane (PU) foam are a closed cell type foam, which is made up of a suspension of tiny bubbles. Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam consists of small beads of polystyrene that have been stuck together. Many are familiar with EPS foam as is commonly used for foam cups and beer coolers. PU foam can be glassed using epoxy resins and polyester resins, whereas XPS and EPS foam can only be glassed with epoxy resins. EPS and XPS resins will react with polyester resins. All foams come in different densities.

FYI - - On a side note, there are two different polyurethane (PU) foams to be on the lookout for, one is a tolulene-di-isocynate (TDI) base, and the other is made using methylene di isocynate (MDI), a less toxic chemical. You should also be aware of a company called XTR, who has a patented system using the XPS foam - its been referred to as a lamination thermo-venting system, where there are holes punched in the deck after the board is laminated. This prevents delamination. The XPS foam has been known to delaminate乧this is due to a problem with the foam degassing under heat and compression. Don't quote me on this one but I haven't seen one person who has made an XPS foam board without a delamination problem. If holes are to be made in the lamination of an XPS - epoxy board, then one must do so with the XTR system if the board is to be sold as a retail product, otherwise the board manufacturer would be violating a national patent. So really, the XTR system is the only way to go with XPS foam. To do an XTR surfboard without violating their patent, one must go through the XTR guys not only for the blank and resin, but also for the glass job (labor). I am not happy with EPS blanks. I as well as others that I know have had problems with the foam collapsing under normal use乧this of course is referring to EPS-epoxy boards that have been constructed in the traditional method of foam core, fiberglass, and laminating resin. There are other methods of construction when referring to EPS-epoxy composites construction. Surftech and the Berger method are two examples of valid surfboard construction methods that involve EPS foam, epoxy resins, as well as other materials and techniques.

Hanyi panel consists of three core technologies, the first layer is aluminum-zinc coated metal board, and the board is different with other metal board. The glass fiber can adjust the humidity of the wall, which avoided the humidity and mildew of inside the room. the panel can eliminate the heat&cold bridge and adjust the humidity of the wall.
